Nancy Mendez Booth

 

Nancy Méndez-Booth is a writer. She teaches writing and Latinx literature and culture at colleges and universities in New York and New Jersey.

Nancy’s fiction and nonfiction has appeared in print and online, including Latina, Poets & Writers, Salon, OZY Media, VIDA: Women in Literary Arts, KGB Bar Literary Magazine, Philadelphia Stories, and Wordrunner eBooks. She posts regularly on her blog.

Nancy has performed her work in the 2017 and 2016 productions of In Full Color: Stories by Women of Color (IFC), and as part of Thinking in Full Color, IFC’s year-round performance program. Her short “Every Last Drop” was selected for and performed at the 2017 Healing Voices OnStage: Caregivers’ Stories event.  Nancy has performed at the Midtown International Theater Festival, where she won Most Popular Show in its 2016 Summer Short Play Lab. Nancy has read her monologues, dramatic shorts, and stories at various Northeast venues including Cornelia Street Cafe and The Moth.

Nancy has received residencies to the Vermont Studio Center, Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing, and Blue Mountain Center, where she completed the script for her one-person show. The New Jersey Women Playwrights Project selected Nancy to participate in their development program, which will provide support for staging her one-person show in the spring of 2019.

Currently, Nancy is completing a second fiction manuscript and seeking representation.
